hey

I'm Kendall Hennessy, a.k.a. Barroo. My core interests are video editing, sound design and visual design. These skillsets have been put to use on all types of projects -- videos, short films, comics, games, and more. This is a page that aims to list what I've been working on for the past few years.

The Grind: Or, Why Everything is a Live Game Now is a short video made in collaboration with Merritt K about live service games and the methods they use to prey on the human reward center.2023
"THE CURSE" is a horror mystery visual novel wearing the clothes of an MMORPG. "THE CURSE" follows Avaline, a relatively new player in the world's most populated online game, caught in the middle of inscrutable interpersonal conflicts between her newfound in-game friend group.

This game was made over the course of a month. All writing, sound and visual assets created by me.

"THE CURSE" can be picked up at itch.io or on my Patreon.

"The Trade" is a 22 minute film that follows two women who find themselves at a trade expo for massage therapists. Partly an ASMR video, partly a meditation on resilience, authenticity, and hard work, "The Trade" is for anyone whose labor remains unseen and underappreciated.

All art and sound design by me. Subtitled in English.

"Forgotten Worlds" is a series by Merritt K about online communal spaces in bygone eras. This was an exceedingly fun project, with watercolor/mixed traditional media assets made for each video.

"dredge" is a ~13 minute short horror cartoon that tells the story of a day at work that goes very very bad. "dredge" represents my first success in creating a short fiction film/cartoon from scratch and as such holds a special significance for me.

All visuals, sound design and voice acting by me.

"dredge" can be watched at YouTube and a download can be picked up at itch.io or on my Patreon.

"Hello, Alma" is a 15 page comic (by me) that comes with a soundtrack (also by me). Nearly each page has a devoted song, though it's not required that the reader sit there and stare at the page for the entirety of a sometimes 2 or 3 minute song.

"Hello, Alma" can be picked up on Bandcamp, itch.io, or on my Patreon.

"Film Critters" is an ongoing video essay series done with my collaborator Jae Bearhat. "Film Critters," along with its offshoot podcast series "Film Critters Processes" and "Film Critters Throws It Back," provides reactions to popular films from the perspective of two queer funny animal slackers.

I handle the visuals and editing (except where otherwise noted) while Jae does a majority of the writing, research and concept work. It's a project I feel extremely proud to contribute to and its creation can be supported over on Patreon.
